Points to consider when choosing colours
- which colours naturally appeal to you?
- which colours make you feel relaxed?
- how much natural light does the room get?
- do you want to make the space feel enclosing or open?
Colour Families
There are various ways of grouping colours, some based on colour theory,
others on aesthetics. It's useful to look at the groups and identify
the ones to which you are drawn.
You might decide to decorate all the rooms in your home with colours
from the same family, to give a coherent look, or you may pick and
choose from several according to the way in which the room will
be used.
For example, you might opt for cool, restful pastels in your bedroom or primaries
for a child's playroom.
Textured Fabrics
Quite apart from painted surfaces remember that you can also vary
or unify the quality of a room by using textured fabrics. They'll add depth and a rich variety to
your overall scheme. |
